This article will outline the changes and new features in the SignAgent Pro™ 3.0 Synchronization Script
Install New Scripts and Keyboard Shortcuts
To install the new scripts (Edit_3.jsxbin and Sync_3.jsxbin) just follow this tutorial: Edit Script
You can also remove the old Edit script (Edit.jsxbin)
If you still have old SignAgent Pro™ projects, you should keep the appropriate Sync script installed... if not, feel free to delete that too.
To reassign keyboard shortcuts, just follow this tutorial: Keyboard Shortcuts
For your information... The new Sync_3.jsxbin script will ONLY work with SignAgent Pro™ 3.0 databases... and likewise SignAgent Pro™ 3.0 databases will ONLY work with the Sync_3.jsxbin script.
If you have any older SignAgent Pro™ databases... you should keep the appropriate Sync scripts for those versions of SignAgent Pro™
1. Improved Archiving in Synchronization
So you may have noticed that, in the Archive folder, there are now TWO different files that show up when you synchronize...
1. A FileMaker database (SignAgentPro-3.fmp12)
2. An InDesign document (SignAgentPro-3.indd)
So, what happens is that every time you start a synchronization (from InDesign), it will save a copy of the InDesign document and the FileMaker database, AS THEY WERE before synchronization. This means that there will always be a matching set of files in the Archive folder, in case you have a crash, or in case you've made an error.
These files will be overwritten every time you start a sync from InDesign.
If you need to revert to these files, all you need to do is move (or copy) them back into the main SignAgent Pro™ folder, replacing the newer ones with the archived ones.
InDesign will also save after a completed synchronization into the main folder... which means you don't have to worry about forgetting to save after Synchronization and getting that nasty "Start synchronization from InDesign" error anymore.
2. Server-based Synchronization
The second exciting thing is that you can now SYNCHRONIZE ON A SERVER! Gone are the days where you would have to copy your files to the desktop, synchronize, and then copy your files back to the server. You can now keep your files saved wherever you like, and it will synchronize successfully.
3. Miscellaneous Bug Fixes
1. Changes from lower-case to upper-case and vice versa are now always recognized and applied when synchronizing.
